serpent politics

if i seem to take part in politics,
it is only because politics encircles us today
like a coil of a snake
from which one cannot get out,
no matter how much one tries.

i wish therefore
to wrestle with the snake.

will you stand by me?
june 30.. HIGH NOON ..12 PM
in anacortes
corner of 12th and commercial
(this is a national/international stance..
please..if you wish..
find your place to stand )
to be the ground for compassion,
lovingkindness, courage and clarity..

as the t-shirt says:
WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS
how do we separate out who's who
and what's what?
we are a human-humane species,
are we not?

truth has drawn me into politics;
and i can say without the slightest hesitation,
yet in all humility,
that those who say that religion has nothing to do with politics
do not know what religion means...
